“Whoever you are, I have always depended on the kindness of strangers”( Tennessee Williams, “An Streetcar Named Desire”)
What do you do when you need help? You probably turn to family and friends. But what do you do when you have no one to turn to? What can a stray do, alone and desolate when they need help? This cat came out of nowhere literally to our doorstep. Exhausted and terribly dehydrated by incessant diarrhea that had caused a nasty inflammation, so emaciated that her pelvic bones protruded from her tiny body, with her fur dirtied by her own excrement and carrying the stench of her predicament so intense that frightened us, she mewed heartbreakingly and rubbed against our legs hoping that we wouldn’t ignore her…because she had nothing to depend on except perhaps the kindness of the passers-by…
And we didn’t ignore her. Blanche, as we named her after the heroine of “A Streetcar Named Desire” by Tennessee Williams, who herself depended on the kindness of strangers, bears no resemblance to the cat that came to our doorstep. Diarrhea is both to her and to us a distant bad memory. She is now absolutely healthy, she is twice the weight she was and she has become a gorgeous cat with a luscious and thick white fur that brings out her emerald eyes. She is still a little insecure; maybe peace in her heart comes at a slower pace than in her body….She now has absolutely no need of strangers. She does however need a family of her own and her own people to show her that she can always depend on their love…will you be the one to give her the family she needs?
Blanche is approximately three years old and she is neutered, vaccinated and dewormed. She will be given for adoption with an official adoption contract, to live exclusively indoors, in the Attica area. Her new guardian will be required to cover the cost of microchipping her.
